Canadian lottery players split $5 million in weekend draw
It was a lucky weekend for two Canadian lottery players who each managed to win life-changing prizes.
The Lotto 6/49 draw took place on Saturday, Jan. 31, and the Classic Draw winning numbers were 01, 07, 21, 33, 41, and 47, with bonus 43. According to PlayNow, after they matched all six numbers, two winners will split the $5-million top prize. A winner from Quebec and another from Lillooet, B.C., will each take home their share worth $2.5 million.
No one won the Lotto 6/49 Classic Draw prize worth $184,943.90; however, 101 lottery players across Canada will split the third prize, and each will receive $768.90.
Another lottery player scored an impressive win after someone in Winnipeg, Man., won the Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball prize worth $1 million. No one won the $22-million Gold Ball jackpot.
In B.C., there were no winners for the $500,000 Classic Draw Extra Prize, and in Ontario, no one won the $1-million Encore prize.
The last time someone won the Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball prize was on Jan. 7, when a lottery player from Saskatchewan, Sask., won $18 million.
The next Lotto 6/49 draw is on Wednesday, Feb. 4, and the top prize is worth $24 million.
Atlantic Lottery
The Lotto Max draw took place on Friday, Jan. 30, and the winning numbers were 30, 34, 38, 43, 44, 46, and 49, with bonus 47. No one won the jackpot worth $20 million, but someone in B.C. did win the second prize after purchasing their ticket online. The prize is worth $167,030.50.
A total of 29 winners across Canada will split the third prize, each of whom will receive $5,759.70.
No one in B.C. won the $500,000 Lotto Max Extra Prize, and similarly in Ontario, no one won the $1-million Encore prize.
The last time someone won the jackpot was on Tuesday, Jan. 20, when a lottery player from Ontario scored the $15-million prize. The next draw is on Tuesday, Feb. 3, and the jackpot is worth $25 million.
