Canadian wakes up $18 million richer after Lotto 6/49 win

A lottery player in Canada has had their life completely transformed after scoring an impressive jackpot.

The most recent lottery draw took place on Wednesday, Jan. 7, and the winning Lotto 6/47 Gold Ball numbers were 37383130-06. According to WCLC, the life-changing ticket was sold in Saskatchewan, and the lucky winner will soon be taking home a massive prize worth $18 million.

The Lotto 6/49 Classic Draw winning numbers were 03, 09, 10, 11, 14, 24, and bonus 05, but no one won the $5 million prize. However, several lottery players across Canada did come pretty close after they all matched five of the six numbers and the bonus.

A total of eight lottery players will split the Classic Draw second prize, and each one will receive a share worth $6,988.30. Four winning tickets were sold in Ontario, while the other four were sold in Quebec, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Aldergrove, B.C.

As for the third prize, 159 winners will each receive $147.60.

In addition to the Classic Draw second prize, there was another winner from B.C. According to PlayNow, a Canadian from Delta, B.C., is now $500,000 richer after winning the Lotto 6/49 Classic Draw Extra prize. No one in Ontario won the $1 million Encore prize.

The last time someone won the Lotto 6/49 jackpot was on Saturday, Dec. 20. Someone from Quesnel, B.C. won the $46 million Gold Ball prize. Before that, Stacey Boyce of Whitecourt, Alta., won the $36 million jackpot during the draw that took placey Oct. 15, 2025.

The next draw is on Saturday, Jan. 10, and the Gold Ball prize is worth $10 million.
