New 'Top Chef' episode is set to highlight Calgary's restaurant scene

Exciting times! Calgary is heading to the small screen this week, being featured in an episode of an iconic foodie TV show.
Last year, it was confirmed that Season 22 of the hit show Top Chef would be heading north of the border to film in Canada, and the newest episode will send the squad to YYC.
Longtime judges Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons were joined in Canada by new host Kristen Kish, who made her debut in Season 21 after previous host Padma Lakshmi announced her departure in June 2023.
While Simmons and Kish were spotted at Cowtown’s Inglewood Drive-In last year, the filming locations were a mystery… until now.
In an Instagram post, iconic Calgary restaurant Charcut shared that both Connie DeSousa and John Jackson would be featured in the episode, with a large part of the episode filmed at Rouge restaurant in Inglewood.
“Connie joined the judge’s table, and John was featured as a guest, representing not just CHARCUT, but the vibrant spirit of our city,” the Instagram post reads, alongside a photo of the pair and the judges.

“We got to talk about Stampede, Calgary pride, our land’s history, and what makes this city such a special place to live, work, and raise a family. We’re so proud to call this home, and to share it with the world.”
Top Chef, which is different from Top Chef Canada, typically films in the U.S., and while the show filmed briefly in Whistler for the ninth season, this is the first season filmed in Canada.
The latest episode of Top Chef will air on Thursday, May 22, at 9 p.m. MDT, and we can’t wait to see Calgary’s exceptional food scene in the spotlight.
