
Spring may be around the corner, but more snow is on the way for parts of Alberta, along with some very high winds in the forecast for the weekend.
Looking at the Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) Significant Weather Outlook, portions of Alberta are at risk of seeing some snow starting on Saturday, March 7.
A large swath of northern Alberta, including High Level and Fort McMurray, is set to see five to 10 centimetres of snow, while the risk of strong wind gusts in the 60 to 80 kilometres per hour range is present for the Grande Prairie region and along the Foothills.
A strip of southern Alberta, including Lethbridge and Waterton Lakes National Park, may also see wind gusts in the 80 to 100 kilometres per hour range.

ECCC Significant Weather Outlook
A second round of snow is in the cards for Sunday, March 8, aiming at the Rockies and a section of northern Alberta as we wrap up the weekend.
According to the outlook, the Rockies could see up to 15 centimetres of snow, while northern Alberta, including Fort McMurray, could see anywhere from 10 to 15 centimetres along with wind gusts up to 60 kilometres per hour.
Sunday will also be a windy one for much of the province, with Calgary, Edson, Red Deer, and Medicine Hat under the threat of wind gusts of 60 to 80 kilometres per hour.
The Edmonton region, along with Grande Prairie and Peace River, could see even higher wind gusts, with 80 to 100 kilometres per hour on the table. The strongest wind gusts on Sunday are set to be in the southern Alberta region, including Lethbridge, which may see gusts in the 90 to 110 kilometres per hour range.

Looking at the major city centres in Alberta, the risk of snow pops up more in the Calgary forecast over the coming days, with a two-day risk of flurries on Sunday and Monday during the daytime.
Edmonton is also set to see a risk of flurries later on next week, with Wednesday night and Thursday both showing a 60 per cent chance of flurries.
