Terry Evans, a longtime voice on Edmonton radio waves, is off the air after 40 years.
A staple on the K-97 (97.3) morning show for decades, Evans received a congratulatory certificate just last month from Premier Danielle Smith recognizing his four decades in Edmonton radio.
“Today is my last day on K-97,” he wrote in an Instagram post on Monday.
“Every book has a final page. Every party comes to an end. Thank you for allowing me into your home, car and workplace. It has been an honour. I am beyond grateful.”

Evans began his radio career in Lethbridge after studying at Lethbridge Community College. He joined K97 in 1986, leaving once for a five-year stint at The Bear (100.3) from 1992 to 1997, according to Broadcast Dialogue.
Some of the highlights of his career include his work with the Kids with Cancer Society and the numerous times listeners came together to help others in need.

“The response from Edmontonians has always been remarkable,” he told CBC Radio Active host Jessica Ng.
Evans was also on air during Edmonton’s devastating 1987 tornado. He was just wrapping up his shift when the weather came in “fast and furious.” After finishing his show, he went into the newsroom to help answer phones and provide information to callers.
For listeners already missing Evans on the airwaves, he’s not disappearing entirely. He continues to host the podcasts Reluctantly and The Zone One.
