It’s been over a year since Shibuya Izakaya closed its doors in Calgary after operating for over 20 years prior.

The popular spot for Japanese fare, which was named after the well-known district in Tokyo, had occupied its location at 449 16th Ave. NE for more than two decades before announcing its closure in October 2023.

While the restaurant hinted at a possible new location at the time, we now finally have all the details on the brand-new Shibuya Izakaya.

The restaurant is currently in its soft opening stage at its new location at 5010 4th St. NE, where it will be serving up many of the authentic Japanese dishes that diners know and love, such as sushi, sashimi and ramen.

In good news for fans of the OG spot, the new Shibuya Izakaya restaurant will be serving classics such as its creamy Udon noodles, beef tataki, and tiger prawn tempura on the menu.

Shibuya Izakaya is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week.
