Most exciting Calgary spring restaurant openings to look forward to

Spring is in the air, and with the changing seasons comes a hefty list of new restaurants on the horizon in Calgary.

From major fast-food chains to local eateries, here are some of the biggest restaurant openings heading to Calgary this spring.

Chick-fil-A

After the hype surrounding Chick-fil-A’s first opening on Macleod Trail last year, the Georgia-based chain has confirmed that its second YYC outpost in East Hills will open this spring.

Diners will be able to get their hands on Chick-fil-A’s signature chicken sandwiches, waffle fries, and handspun milkshakes. There’ll also be a drive-thru for getting goods on the go.

Hugely popular LA-founded Dave’s Hot Chicken is finally set to make its way to Alberta in 2025. The spot is known for its signature hot chicken tenders and sliders, which can be customized to your preferred spice level from zero to “Reaper.”

The international chicken chain, which currently operates several outposts in Ontario, has signed leases for three outposts in Calgary, which are expected to open this spring, so stay tuned!

Kinton Ramen – Mission

Toronto-based Kinton Ramen has just opened its first YYC location at South Trail Crossing, but another is on the horizon this spring.

The ramen chain will open at 1904 4th St. SW as early as late spring.

Last year, Kinton Ramen, known for its authentic Japanese ramen and casual dining experience, signed an Area Representative Agreement with The Labreche Group to open 12 outposts in Alberta over the next five years.

Cluck Cluck’s

Cluck Clucks, a Canadian fried chicken and waffle spot, has also revealed it’s entering the mix with a new YYC location on the way.

Originating in Ontario, Cluck Clucks specializes in hand-cut halal chicken and perfectly golden waffles. Along with traditional bone-in chicken, Cluck Clucks also serves juicy waffle sandwiches, sliders, and more.

Krispy Kreme

Another huge U.S. chain continuing its expansion north of the border in 2025 is Krispy Kreme. After opening a brand-new outpost in Edmonton last year, it will soon be Calgary’s turn.

Krispy Kreme has secured its first location at 9629 Macleod Trail, the site previously occupied by Ginger Beef. The spot is set to open in the first half of 2025, and if its Edmonton opening is anything to go by, we’re expecting long lines!

Central Marda Loop

Central has been a popular fixture in Calgary’s Beltline neighbourhood since it opened in 2022. Now, it’s gearing up to open a new location in Marda Loop.

The new 4,411-square-foot space will be Central’s largest location yet, with around 269 seats, and a 2,256-square-foot rooftop patio.

The spot is touted to open in early 2025 so watch this space!
