World-famous smash burger restaurant to open its first Calgary location
After teasing its Canadian expansion last year, it looks as though Shake Shack is YYC-bound.
It’s been a long wait, but Shake Shack is making its way to Cowtown, with its first Alberta location poised to open in CF Chinook Centre.
Work on the new location is currently underway, and a source close to its development told Dished that it’s anticipated to be completed in the spring.

While an official opening date hasn’t been revealed, we’ll be waiting not-so-patiently to get our hands on Shake Shack’s signature smash burgers and frozen custards.
Shake Shack opened its first Canadian outpost in Toronto back in 2024, drawing enormous lines at its location at the corner of Yonge and Dundas.
As to what to expect in YYC, we’ll be sure to see Shake Shack’s signature menu items, such as its Angus beef burgers, chicken burgers, hot dogs, crinkle cut fries, milkshakes, frozen custards and concretes.
There have also been some Canadian exclusives, including the Maple Salted Pretzel Shake, and concreats such as the I Heart Butter Tart, the More S’mores and the Shack Attack.
Shake Shack isn’t the only huge name heading to Chinook this year, as Wingstop is also set to open at the mall later this year.
