A new neighbourhood spot for classic Italian fare, pioneered by the couple behind a popular Greek restaurant, has just opened its doors in Calgary.

Lusi Italian Kitchen & Pizzeria, Calgary’s newest spot for Italian food in Killarney, has been brought to life by Ervin and Michelle Bushi, the couple behind Broken Plate.

With decades of restaurant experience, the pair created Lusi with the aim of offering classic Italian with a casual-contemporary style, serving a wide array of dishes that celebrate the rich flavours and traditions of Italy.

The spot offers a wide selection of antipasti, such as focaccia with whipped ricotta, grilled octopus, beef carpaccio and salads.

“Our signature offerings include authentic Italian dishes and pizzas made with love and expertise, accompanied by a thoughtfully curated wine list,” Lusi’s website reads.

Lusi offers plenty of unique pasta dishes such as its Pesto Cavatelli with crispy prosciutto and Italian chilli crisp and the Boar Pappardelle, with braised boar, mushroom, parmesan, and a focaccia crumb.

As for its pizza offerings, diners will be able to try out Lusi’s take on classics such as the Margherita, Quattro Formagi, and a Carbonara pie with guanciale, egg, pecorino and cream sauce.
Lusi also offers larger plates, including its Bistecca for two, which includes a 20-ounce Alberta premium striploin with roasted potatoes, asparagus, gremolata, grilled lemon, and focaccia.
The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.
