It was an extremely sad loss to Calgary’s dining scene when Foreign Concept closed in 2023, but for those who have missed it, there is some very exciting news.

The iconic restaurant will be hosting a pop-up at Milpa on Oct. 19, with Chef Duncan Ly cooking up a curated menu of Foreign Concept’s most beloved dishes.

“Come relive the flavours, the atmosphere, and the creativity of Foreign Concept, reimagined at Milpa for one unforgettable evening,” Milpa’s Instagram reads.

Foreign Concept was well-known for its contemporary Asian cuisine, with dishes such as cherry gochujang-glazed pork chops, pineapple rice, and fish sauce caramel Brussels sprouts. During its eight-year tenure, it even earned a spot on Canada’s Top 100 Restaurants list.

While the team now operates the French-inspired Bar Chouette, it’s exciting to see Foreign Concept make a return, even just for the night.

While the event isn’t ticketed and walk-ins are welcome, reservations are able to be made online to guarantee a spot.
