A McDonald’s location in Calgary is closed for cleaning after an employee reported that they had tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a release, a McDonald’s employee from the location on 951 64th Ave NE Calgary, Alberta reported “late on September 12th,” that they had contracted coronavirus.

The restaurant was immediately closed for cleaning and sanitization by a third party.

“Out of an abundance of caution, the decision was made to immediately shut down the restaurant for a thorough cleaning and sanitization by a certified third party,” says a statement from McDonald’s Media Relations.

The employee worked their last shift on September 5, 2020 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

All crew members who may have been in close contact with the employee have been asked to self-quarantine until further notice.

Guests who may have visited the restaurant on September 5 are being asked to take directions from Alberta Health Services.

“We are working to ensure we reopen safely,  as we know our guests depend on their local McDonald’s and we are committed to doing our part to help our communities.”
