Charmed Resorts, known for its dazzling fairytale cottages, has revealed it has received the green light to open up a new 64-acre Alberta location.

Charmed Resorts opened its first location in Blairmore in Spring 2021 and a second location at Mulhurst Bay, just south of Edmonton, in early 2025.

Daily Hive first reported on the new location last August, with the company stating that the new spot will sit on a 64-acre parcel of land near the first Charmed Resorts location in Blairmore, with 30 new fairytale cottages and 30 Renaissance-style glamping campsites, giving guests even more unique ways to experience the resorts.

Speaking to Daily Hive this week, Charmed Resorts said that because it went through a very thorough, multi-month process with the Land and Property Rights Tribunal to ensure everything was perfectly aligned, its original construction and anticipated opening date have shifted a bit.

It will be officially breaking ground on Phase One of the new location this spring, and because of the intricate, custom nature of the site’s buildings, Charmed is targeting an opening date of 2027 for the first new Crowsnest Pass cottages.

It is also looking at hosting some smaller, pop-up magic and events on the property later this year to give the community and guests a sneak peek in advance of the full opening next year.

The event/wedding pavilion at the new location is a major priority for the company right now to accommodate the demand for group bookings, while the future spa and the restaurant are still very much a part of the property’s long-term vision.

“To ensure sustainable scaling, those larger commercial amenities will roll out in subsequent phases after we establish our core accommodations and the event space,” Charmed added.

Charmed also shared some new details about the location that hadn’t been released publicly yet, including launching a fully immersive retail experience named after its new resort mascot, Cobb.

Cobb’s Corner Store will be a wagon that won’t be a standard gift shop; the company will be bringing in authentic gelato imported directly from Italy, alongside magical wands and dress-up gear from a Canadian brand.

In addition to the gift shop, the company is also leaning strongly into moving forward with its new event pavilion as early as possible, and is currently in talks to host full-scale LARP (Live Action Role-Playing) events in the forest, utilizing the “natural terrain and our fairytale backdrop for something completely unique to Alberta.”
