An Alberta resort known for dazzling fairytale cottages has revealed it is in the process of opening up a new 65-acre location.

Charmed Resorts opened its first location in Blairmore in the spring of 2021 and a second location at Mulhurst Bay, just south of Edmonton, earlier this year.

Daily Hive spoke with the founder and CEO of Charmed Resorts, Tyson Leavitt, regarding the expansion and what the upcoming third location is all about.

Leavitt says the new location will sit on a 65-acre parcel of land near the first Charmed Resorts location in Blairmore, with 30 new fairytale cottages and 30 Renaissance-style glamping campsites, giving guests even more unique ways to experience the resorts.

“It’s right up against the ski hill and right up against the public lands. It’s got a creek going through it. It’s an incredible location, beautiful hills and mountains and everything on it,” Leavitt touted.

Since the new property connects to public lands, visitors will have the chance to go right from the resort to enjoy endless hiking into the Canadian Rockies over the summer months, or even snowmobiling in the winter months.

All the development permits have been submitted, and it is currently undergoing a few government approval processes according to Leavitt, with the hope that construction can kick off this fall and an opening date sometime next year.

In addition to the flurry of new cottages and camping spots, a wedding pavilion and event space are also in the works, along with a spa and restaurant.

The restaurant, which is set to be filled with unique interiors, won’t be very large right off the bat; however, Leavitt added that if they do need to grow it in the future, they’ll look into it.

The fairytale-themed resorts have proven popular with people visiting from around the globe, including Australia and the United Kingdom.

“People watch our social media and they come from literally all the corners of the world. It has absolutely blown our mind, and so as we continue to develop out our resorts, we want it to be worthy of people that are flying in from across the world.”

As for future locations, Leavitt says there has been plenty of interest from areas across North America.

“We’re looking at sites in Utah, we’re looking at sites in Oregon. We’re looking at sites in British Columbia, Toronto, so we’re really trying to do things methodically.”
