One of Calgary's most popular cafes is soft opening its new location

We’ve been eagerly awaiting the opening of Canela’s second Calgary location, and the time is finally here.
Canela, the incredibly popular vegan eatery, has soft-opened its new Bridgeland location, taking over the space that previously housed Mondays Plant Cafe, which closed earlier this summer.
While originally slated to open in September, the Canela team said they had faced delays as the building was not up to code for food service. However, the spot has now been given the green light to gradually open to the public.

For now, the Bridgeland outpost will be open for customers to grab fall drinks and its wide selection of vegan pastries to go or to enjoy on the patio, while work on getting the interior up to city code is underway.
The locally owned cafe concept, which began as a farmers market business, opened in Inglewood in 2021. The spot offers an enormous selection of vegan goods, including pastries, cakes, cookies, and savoury treats, all made without any animal products or by-products.
For now, Canela’s Bridgeland outpost will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and soon enough, Calgarians will be able to visit the cafe and take advantage of its cozy seating area, too.
