New Vietnamese restaurant has replaced a local favourite in Calgary

Little over a year after moving to a new home on 8th Street, popular Vietnamese spot Thai Tai suddenly closed its doors. Luckily, we didn’t have to wait long for its replacement, with a brand-new Vietnamese restaurant concept already open in its place.

Chez Nguyen has now made its home at 1436 8th St. SW, where it offers a wide range of Vietnamese dishes that can be enjoyed at the restaurant or as takeout.

The menu here is hefty, with a huge array of appetizers and mains to satisfy. It offers four types of spring rolls loaded with everything from ground pork to shrimp and veggies.

Other small bites include Vietnamese-style beef carpaccio, pho tacos, and crab rangoon.

Like its predecessor, Chez Nyugen has plenty of Vietnamese subs, loaded with anything from grilled chicken, char siu, and scrambled eggs with housemade paste, with all the classic toppings, including cucumbers, pickled carrots, green pepper, and cilantro.
Diners will also be able to enjoy authentic Vietnamese dishes, including pho and vermicelli, as well as beef stir-fry, Vietnamese meatballs, seafood fried rice, and so much more.
Chez Nguyen is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to midnight Friday to Sunday.
