If we know one thing about Calgarians, it’s that they love a new restaurant or several. While the past year saw a huge influx of international chains and local eateries, 2025 is set to be even bigger!

Some exciting new concepts are on the horizon for Cowtown with a group of very recognizable names poised to open their doors over the coming year. If you’re already looking to plan out some foodie adventures for 2025, here are some of the highly anticipated restaurant openings in Calgary.

Dave’s Hot Chicken

Hugely popular LA-founded Dave’s Hot Chicken is finally set to make its way to Alberta in 2025. The spot is known for its signature hot chicken tenders and sliders, which can be customized to your preferred spice level from zero to “Reaper.”

The international chicken chain, which currently operates several outposts in Ontario, has signed leases for three outposts in Calgary, which are expected to open this spring, so stay tuned!

Krispy Kreme

Another huge US chain continuing its expansion north of the border in 2025 is Krispy Kreme. After opening a brand-new outpost in Edmonton last year, it will soon be Calgary’s turn.

Krispy Kreme has secured its first location at 9629 Macleod Trail, the site previously occupied by Ginger Beef. The spot is set to open in the first half of 2025, and if its Edmonton opening is anything to go by, we’re expecting long lines!

Aloha Modern Kitchen

While it was originally slated to open last fall, it looks as though the highly-anticipated spot Aloha Modern Kitchen will be opening in 2025.

Brought to life by the team behind The J Spot, Aloha will bring a taste of Hawaii to Calgary with dishes such as spam musubi, garlic noodles, and Loco Moco.

Wander

It’s good news for travellers as a brand-new dining spot is set to open at Calgary International Airport this year. Wander, a new concept by Calgary chef Nicole Gomes (the name behind fried chicken favourite Cluck N Cleaver), is set to open in 2025.

Small Bar

While we were sad to see Cannibale close on New Year’s Eve, a brand-new concept is already on the way for the iconic Bridgeland space.

After some renovations, Small Bar is set to open at 813 1st Avenue NE later this year and we can’t wait to check it out!
