Two new neighbourhoods set to bring 1,500 homes to east Calgary
Two new neighbourhoods are in the works in east Calgary, and they are expected to bring approximately 1,500 homes and more than 4,000 residents to the area.
The new communities, called Hollins and Halstead, are from RYCO Properties in partnership with Truman. The project broke ground earlier this month, marking the start of construction on the 133-acre development.
RYCO Properties said the communities are expected to offer a range of housing options, including single-family homes, duplexes, townhomes and multi-family housing, when speaking with Daily Hive.

The development is also expected to feature a mix of greenspace, recreation, and community amenities. Plans include a large community park, a regulation-sized cricket pitch, reconstructed wetlands and naturalized open space, along with smaller parks, pathways, and additional sports and recreational amenities.

The communities are being designed with connections to the surrounding area in mind. Located east of Stoney Trail and split by the new Memorial Drive extension, the development will also include walking and cycling connections between Hollins and Halstead and the surrounding area, access to transit, and East Hills Crossing.
The communities are expected to be built out over multiple phases. While a specific date has not been set, sales for homes in Hollins and Halstead are currently anticipated to begin in 2027, subject to construction progress.
The full buildout of the communities does not have a firm timeline.
