Augmented Reality Experience at The CORE 2019

What: An augmented reality exhibit is open at Calgary’s The CORE Shopping Centre, in partnership with UK-based technology provider INDE. Attendees will stand on a platform in front of a gigantic screen, which will show them standing alongside everything from whales to giraffes to dinosaurs. Three different experiences will be available to try out, — Air, Land, and Sea; Arctic Explorer; and Back to the Jurassic — with each providing a different setting along with different animals to encounter.

Calgary Pet Expo

What: Calgary Pet Expo is a two day consumer tradeshow that is open to the public. At the show you will find hundreds of pets, pet products, service providers, entertainers, clubs and organizations that cater to pets. The show strives to include all types of pets, anything from dogs & cats, to reptiles and other small caged exotics. All of these animals can be seen on-site during the show for you to interact with.

Voices from the North

What: Presented in collaboration with Wordfest, this concert presents three brothers from northern Alberta – a composer, an author, and a playwright – sharing the stage for the first time. Giller-winning author Will Ferguson shares images and stories of growing up in northern Alberta. Leacock medal winner Ian Ferguson reads from his memoir Village of the Small Houses. And composer Sean Ferguson, Professor of Composition and former Dean of McGill University’s Schulich School of Music, curates a concert of works with special significance for his musical development, including a new work for chamber ensemble.

Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo 2019

What: The Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo (aka Calgary Expo) is a four-day pop-culture convention held in annually each spring at Stampede Park. Attendees can shop hundreds of vendors and exhibitors, check out panels and workshops, meet their favourite stars and creators, and celebrate what makes them geeky with thousands of other fans in cosplay. This year’s special guests include the stars of Back to the Future, The Goonies, Rose McIver and more.
