"Grey's Anatomy" and "Riverdale" alums star in new Vancouver crime drama
Vancouver is finally getting another opportunity to play itself on-screen with CBC’s Wild Cards, and the TV show is led by some familiar Canadian faces.
The new crime drama stars Vanessa Morgan of Riverdale and Giacomo Gianniotti of Grey’s Anatomy fame and can be watched on CBC as well as streamed on CBC Gem.
Wild Cards is described as a comedic crime-solving procedural with a “bubbly clever con woman,” a “gruff sardonic cop,” and Vancouver as the backdrop for their adventures.
Italian Canadian star Giannotti gave the region a shout-out on Instagram for its stunning scenery.

“This series shows some of the most beautiful locations Canada has to offer using Vancouver and surrounding areas of British Columbia as our backdrop,” posted the Toronto-raised actor. “(It also features) some incredible Canadian talent, in front of and behind the camera, that I cannot wait for you all to see.”
Gianniotti stars as Ellis, a demoted detective working on Vancouver’s marine unit, who meets spirited con woman Max, played by Morgan. The two have to work together to solve crimes to redeem themselves and to stay out of further trouble.

Fans of Grey’s Anatomy will recognize Gianniotti as Dr. Andrew DeLuca, while avid watches of Riverdale will remember Morgan as Toni Topaz on the hit show.
The trailer for Wild Cards does a fine job of letting viewers know that it takes place in Vancouver. Iconic locations and landmarks that can be seen include False Creek, Granville Island, and The Post Vancouver.
And for even more Canadian content, 90210 star Jason Priestley is a recurring guest star on the show playing Max’s father.
Wild Cards is now streaming on CBC Gem.
