Canadian icon's former Whistler property listed for $11 million more than last sale

A stunning Whistler property with some interesting connections, which has been on the market for several months, remains unsold.
According to the March listing, the home has been “masterfully updated,” which may be the reason behind the significant price increase.
The home, located at 5476 Stonebridge Place, was listed for $22 million in March. In 2021, the home was listed for $12,950,000 but sold for $11,500,000, the last publicly reported sale.
The listing features a peculiar line stating that the property has a “celebrity pedigree.” After some digging about what that line could mean, we quickly discovered the home’s connection to Canadian icon and Grammy Award-winning artist Sarah McLachlan.
Many media outlets, including BC Business, have reported on McLachlan’s ties to the property. Reports also suggest she was the owner when the home was sold in 2021. Engel & Volkers would not confirm or deny those reports, but Daily Hive was able to independently verify that she was the owner when it was sold in 2021.

The property offers ample space of 8,797 sq. ft. and sits on a vast plot of land, totalling 188,179 sq. ft., according to the listing. It features six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, and the listing states that it offers breathtaking views of Whistler and Blackcomb mountains.

Some of the home’s luxurious features include a gym with mountain views, a sauna, a theatre, and a guest house.
The property was previously listed in 2024 for even more than the current price ($25,500,000). Before that listing expired, the price was dropped to $24,000,000, but it didn’t attract a buyer at the reduced price.
