West Vancouver property featured in 90s thriller relisted after huge price drop

A property in the West Vancouver region that once served as a location for what some may call an iconic ’90s thriller is up for sale after a significant price drop.

We first reported on 15 Brunswick Beach Road last June, when the home was listed for $19,800,000.

Now, after a $2 million discount, the home is listed for $17,800,00.

At one point in 2023, the West Vancouver property was listed for a whopping $30,000,000, despite having an assessed value of only $7 million that year. The price was dropped to $23,800,000 before being terminated. Cumulatively, the home has been on the market for almost 800 days.

BC Assessment currently values the property at $8,324,000.

While Lions Bay is technically its own municipality, the listing refers to the location as West Vancouver due to its proximity, and Zealty also states the home is located in the “West Vancouver Region.”

The Re/Max listing calls it a one-of-a-kind and “one of the most unique properties in West Vancouver.”

You’re probably wondering what movie this property was featured in. The movie is the 1996 thriller Fear, starring Mark Wahlberg and Reese Witherspoon. However, the version of the house you’ll see in the film no longer exists, as the current home was built four years ago.

Based on pictures of the home from the listing, the interior is just as stunning as the scenic exterior, depending on your aesthetic tastes.

But, regardless of what your vibe is, who could say no to this bathtub with those views?

Actually, we could see Wahlberg saying no. (Re/Max Clara Hartree)

The home isn’t as large as some homes you’ll see at this price point, featuring around 5,000 sq. ft. of living space.

Re/Max Clara Hartree’s listing says, ” Set at the end of a quiet road, this waterfront peninsula has nearly 400 feet of shoreline that wraps around the home and its fortress-like concrete foundation walls!”

The next owner of this home will enjoy numerous enviable amenities, including a heated oceanside pool, stunning views of local wildlife, an outdoor lounge with a BBQ, secluded beaches, and more.

If you haven’t seen Fear, even the IMDB synopsis yells 1990s:

When Nicole met handsome, charming, affectionate David, he was everything. It seemed perfect, but soon she sees that David has a darker side. And his adoration turns to obsession, their dream into a nightmare, and her love into fear.”

Sounds a bit like buying a home in Vancouver.
