A fatal stabbing that took place last month is being investigated as Vancouver’s fourth homicide of 2020.

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says that Josue Vela was reportedly stabbed on May 10. He was in the area of Princess Avenue and Cordova Street during the afternoon.

The 37-year-old was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, but police say he passed away two days later.

Homicide investigators have made an arrest and released an individual pending further investigation.

At this point in time, the VPD says they don’t believe there’s any risk to the public.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact the VPD at 604-717-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
