VPD seizes 3rd stash of weapons from home near Oppenheimer Park

Mar 6 2020, 9:34 pm

Another large stash of weapons has been seized by the Vancouver Police Department (VPD), this time from a home close to Oppenheimer Park.

The news follows a tent fire, an assault, and a previous weapons seizure that took place earlier this week, continuing to draw concerns of public safety and violence around the area.

Police said in an email that on Wednesday, just after 1 pm, officers received information about a “large amount of weapons” inside a suite near Dunlevy and East Cordova Street.

After a search warrant was obtained, officers reportedly seized the following items:

  • 9 imitation firearms
  • Firearm parts, including barrels
  • 12-gauge shotgun shells
  • Swords
  • Knives
  • Hatchets
  • Handmade weapons
  • Stun batons
  • Bear spray
  • BB pellets and paintball rounds

VPD notes that this is the third weapons seizure in nine days. An investigation into the weapons continues but no arrests have been made at this time.

Prior to Wednesday, two other seizures took place, including one during an assault investigation and one during a domestic dispute that took place in late February.
