The Vancouver Police Department’s bomb squad was called into downtown Vancouver last night to respond to reports of a suspicious package on the street.

At around 9 pm, the VPD received a report of a suspicious package found on Granville Street near Drake.

The VPD says that specially trained officers from the Emergency Response Team attended the scene out of “an abundance of caution.”

The suspicious package turned out to be a pressure cooker but the Emergency Response Team did destroy the item as per safety protocol.

Vancouver Police Const. Jason Doucette told Daily Hive via email that the VPD determined there was “no risk to the public.”

The incident caused several hours of delays to evening traffic.
