Don't freak out if you hear the sound of gunfire coming from Convention Centre today
Hearing the sound of gunfire from the Vancouver Convention Centre this morning?
For today, there’s no need to be alarmed.
The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) has notified the public that emergency response training is taking place today at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
Police officers, emergency response members, and staff from the centre are participating in the exercise and simulating a “real-life emergency situation.”
The VPD says that those who work or commute in the area may hear the firing of blank ammunition as well.
The training exercise is scheduled to take place until 12 pm today.
The Vancouver Convention Centre’s West building will be closed until then.
