Potential COVID-19 exposures were identified at eight Vancouver Coastal Health schools in the first week back to class after the holiday break.

Posting exposures from last week include schools in Vancouver, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, and Richmond.

Vancouver’s Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith Elementary had an exposure on January 4 and 5; Sir Matthew Begbie Elementary had one on January 5 and 6; Sir Charles Tupper Secondary reported one on January 4. The privately run St. Francis of Assisi Preschool also had an exposure on January 4.

North Vancouver’s Carson Graham Secondary School is also reporting a new exposure on January 4.

Sentinel Secondary and École Pauline Johnson Elementary in West Vancouver are both reporting exposures on January 4.

In Richmond, RC Palmer Secondary had an exposure on January 4 and 5.

Exposures occur when someone attends school in the days before testing positive for COVID-19. It does not necessarily mean any transmission occurred at school.

Contact tracers reach out to patients’ close contacts individually, and anyone who does not receive a phone call from public health staff can attend school as normal.
