Vancouver school reports COVID-19 exposure on first day back from break

One Vancouver high school is reporting a COVID-19 exposure from the first day students were back in class after the winter break.

Vancouver Coastal Health says on its website that students and staff at Sir Charles Tupper Secondary were potentially exposed to COVID-19 on January 4.

This is the first COVID-19 exposure at a Vancouver school in 2021, and so far it’s the only one.

An exposure means an infected individual came to school in the days before they tested positive. It does not necessarily mean they transmitted the virus to anyone.

The school remains open and anyone who did not receive a call from contact tracers can attend class as usual.
