Friday, September 27

Bike the Dyke

Tourism Richmond

What: September is the perfect time to head to Richmond and Bike the Dyke. Beautiful waterfront views abound as you enjoy biking on off- street, unpaved pathways that run from central Richmond to Steveston Village. Leave some time to explore some of Richmond unique attractions along the way—including Aberdeen Centre, Terra Nova Rural Park, and Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site. And once you arrive in picturesque Steveston Village, there are plenty of amazing places to grab a drink and a bite to eat.

When: Anytime from now until the end of September
Time: Biking one direction with no breaks takes anywhere from 30 minutes to 90 minutes. However, we recommend you make stops along the way and make it a full day experience.
WhereBike the Dyke starts about 150 meters west of the Aberdeen Canada Line Station.

North Vancouver’s Shipyards Night Market

What: Gathering some of Vancouver’s best food vendors, this free event will feature a full farmers’ and artisan marketplace along with local food trucks and live entertainment weekly until 10 pm. Shipbuilders’ Square in North Vancouver will be transformed into a vibrant night market with 100+ vendors. Attendees can expect to chow down on grub from 40+ food trucks in “hot food alley” and enjoy live entertainment all summer long. The Friday Night Market will also feature a 19+ beer garden, serving local craft beer and cider as well as Betty’s Vodka Iced Tea.

Rob Schneider

What: Rob Schneider is famed for his work on Saturday Night Live, Grown Ups, Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, and The Animal. Schneider currently stars in the Netflix docu-series Real Rob, which showcased the everyday hijinks of his life. He performs live at Hard Rock Casino on September 27.

AWAY with HOME

Away with Home / Amanda Skuse Photography

What: AWAY with HOME from MISCELLANEOUS Productions is a transdisciplinary performance work featuring five youth from the community exploring issues of immigration, family, racism, identity, mental health, bullying, and more. The show combines hip hop and contemporary dance, hip hop and neo-soul music, Taiko drumming, image theatre, performance art and poetry.

Poutine With Purpose Vancouver 2019

What: Poutine With Purpose invites customers to try some of the city’s top poutines while supporting Mealshare to end youth hunger. Both the Calgary and Victoria Poutine With Purpose events have sold over 30,000 poutines over the past four years. Every poutine sold at participating restaurants during this time means one meal to someone in need. If this event is anything like the one in YYC, Vancouverites can expect dozens of eateries serving up vegetarian, gluten-free, and vegan poutine options for patrons to try too.

World Maritime Day at the Port of Vancouver

What: The Port of Vancouver is hosting a free-to-attend, family-friendly celebration for World Maritime Day. This year’s celebration also follows the theme of “Empowering Women in the Maritime Community.”

Attractions at the event include multiple exhibitor’s booths and displays, on-water demonstrations, and live concerts. The main stage will have performances throughout the day from Bobs & LoLo, Will’s Jams, Langley Ukelele Ensemble, Coastal Wolf Pack, SEABILLYS, Sarah Wheeler Band, The Burying Ground, and The Paperboys.

Oktoberfest at Hastings Racecourse

Oktoberfest Vancouver/Hastings Racecourse and Casino

What: Oktoberfest at Hastings Racecourse features delicious traditional fare, exhilarating horse races, dancing to live music, and plenty of beer. Attendees will have access to two exclusive areas that are only open to ticket holders: the German Haus and Wine Haus.

The German Haus will feature live music by The Silver Bells, exclusive craft beers from Parallel 49 Brewing such as their Craft Lager, Pumpkin Oktoberfest, and Trash Panda Hazy IPA, and naturally hardwood smoked Oktoberfest sausage exclusively from Schneiders. The Wine Haus will feature a curated selection of premium cheeses, as well as wines such as Sawmill Creek’s Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot.

Zwanze Day at Bells and Whistles
