BAP UNIÓN docks in North Vancouver

What: You’ll want to set sail after visiting this massive ship that’s docking in North Vancouver for the weekend. Best part, you can tour it for free. The tall ship, BAP UNIÓN, is a training ship for the Peruvian Navy and is on its fourth training voyage. Not only is the ship an integral part of training young cadets from Peru’s Naval Academy, but it is also an ambassador of goodwill in every country that it visits.

Vancouver’s West of Main Art Walk

What: Explore the talents of more than 60 artists in the West of Main Art Walk. From Point Grey to Main Street and from Granville Island to 41st Avenue, you can tour studios and engage with artists — and buy their art — from 11 am to 5 pm on May 11 and 12.The art walk includes internationally recognized artists as well as new and emerging local artists.

lipservice 2019

What: lipservice is an annual Jimmy Fallon inspired lip sync battle for charity. Since 2014, lipservice has raised over $100,000 in support of education projects in Ethiopia. This year, funds raised will support WE Charity (in partnership with Imagine1Day). The goal is to raise $45,000, which will directly support a community in Northern Ethiopia called Hagaro, specifically with supporting a classroom block that will increase access to education for the 500 school aged children in the community.

A Night of World Class Professional Boxing

What: Former CFLer, turned heavyweight boxer, Adam Braidwood is headlining A night of World Class Professional Boxing at the Vogue Theatre on May 11. The night will also feature fellow heavyweight boxer Kristian Prenga, who’s riding a five-fight knockout streak. Joining Prenga and Braidwood is welterweight Jessie Wilcox. She’s carrying a three-fight win streak, with two of the wins coming in the first round. The star studded night will also include former Canadian national amateur champion Amanda Galle, as she’s making only her second pro appearance ever.

Twenty One Pilots

What: The American musical duo of Tyler Jospeh and drummer Josh Dun are embarking on a massive, 93-city world tour that will include a stop at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena on May 12. The Bandito Tour will promote the band’s fifth studio album, Trench. Twenty One Pilots will also be playing older tunes, especially off their 2015 Blurryface album that skyrocketed the duo to stardom.

Heartfelt Motel Pop-Up

What: “Heartmelt Motel” is a pop-up exhibit taking over a Surrey mall as part of a Canadian tour that will see the photo op wonderland installed temporarily in malls in four provinces. As for the theme, think 1970s California summer and retro-motel. There are five unique “motel rooms” in the exhibit, each containing an immersive and interactive space for you to explore. No creative pop-up is complete without a gummy ball pool for visitors to jump into.

BlueShore Financial Mother’s Day Run
