This free art walk lets you meet and engage with 60 Vancouver artists

Apr 25 2019, 4:51 am

Explore the talents of more than 60 artists in the West of Main Art Walk.

From Point Grey to Main Street and from Granville Island to 41st Avenue, you can tour studios and engage with artists — and buy their art — from 11 am to 5 pm on May 11 and 12.

The art walk includes internationally recognized artists as well as new and emerging local artists.

ā€œWeā€™re not only inviting the community to engage with our work, in many cases, weā€™re also invitingĀ them into our homes,ā€Ā said participating artist and chair of the event Alice Philips.

In its 27th year, the art walk is Vancouver’s longest-running open studio tour and sale.

ā€œItā€™s such an invitingĀ way to experience art,ā€ said fine art photographer and first time participant Shira Gold.

ā€œYouā€™re in artistsā€™ homes, studios, even their gardens, connecting with art in spaces inĀ the city you may never otherwise have the chance to see.ā€

The art walk weekend begins with the Preview Gala & Sale on May 9 at the Roundhouse Community Centre.

This part of the weekend event includes an opening reception with the artists, demonstrations by many artists and an art sale, with all proceeds going towards providing art supplies for Coast Mental Healthā€™s artĀ programs.
