Air Canada has suspended its non-stop seasonal service from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Dubai Airport (DXB).

In a statement to Daily Hive Urbanized, Air Canada confirmed that the changes are being applied to the Winter 2025-2026 flight schedule.

The news comes just two years after the route was first announced.

The inaugural Air Canada flight between Vancouver and Dubai took place on Oct. 28, 2023.

The service utilized the long-range Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, with flights departing from YVR to Dubai four times a week.

“Travellers will arrive in Dubai in approximately 15 hours from YVR and enjoy all the region has to offer as well as increased onward global connections from DXB through Air Canada’s partnership with Emirates,” stated YVR in a 2023 news release.

It was also Western Canada’s first and only non-stop flight to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and also served as a connection for travellers headed to destinations in South Asia and the Middle East.

According to Aeroroutes, the upcoming year’s winter flight between YVR and  DXB schedule was supposed to run between Nov. 22, 2025, and March 26, 2026.

In its statement to Daily Hive Urbanized, Air Canada did not confirm whether the suspension was tied to a lack of demand.

The airline confirmed that its Toronto-Dubai services are “continuing as normal with no changes planned.”
