Production of 'Tracker' moving from Vancouver to the States thanks to tax credit

After three seasons of being filmed in Vancouver, the production of a popular TV show is moving to the States, and it’s apparently thanks to a tax credit.
Tracker, starring Justin Hartley, is the show in question, a show that Deadline calls “one of the biggest” on television.
Deadline reported on the location shift, saying that the decision was recently finalized after the California Film Commission revealed its latest round of TV tax credits. Tracker was awarded $48 million on $129 million in qualified expenditures.
Hartley commented on the move, saying that he was “proud of what we built in Vancouver,” adding that he’s excited to bring it to Los Angeles.
Vancouver has been a haven for film and TV production for years, but there’s a chance that more shows will move Stateside due to the tax breaks.
That doesn’t mean that Vancouver is going to lose its status as Hollywood North and as a major production hub.
The Hollywood Reporter (THR) recently published a piece on the fact that Vancouver is seeing a film and TV production rebound. We also recently reported that Netflix just opened up a major studio in Vancouver to develop and produce animated films.
THR reported that the rebound still falls short of the “go-go post-COVID years, but continues a pick up in production by major studios and streamers after the bruising impact of the 2023 dual actors and writers strikes in Los Angeles.”
Some major productions that have recently completed or are currently in production in Vancouver and B.C. include the third season of The Last of Us TV series, The Audacity, an X-Files reboot, Mayfair Witches, and Happy Gilmore 2.
The second season of The Audacity is also scheduled to start filming in Vancouver this June, and season four of Yellowjackets is currently in production.
