'XO, Kitty' star Anna Cathcart gushes about Vancouver over L.A.

Anna Cathcart, one of the stars of the hit Netflix romance show XO, Kitty, was on a podcast recently when Vancouver came up.

The 22-year-old is actually from Vancouver and has been on the screen since she was just a little kid, getting her start with some commercial appearances.

She is also the recipient of a Canadian Screen Award.

Cathcart recently appeared on the Zach Sang Show about why she doesn’t live in L.A. when Vancouver came up.

“I love L.A. because of everything it’s brought me,” Cathcart said, with a “but.”

“I love Vancouver, it’s home, it’s always going to be, and it’s where I can touch grass.”

One of the reasons Cathcart prefers Vancouver is that she can be out and about and “not be surrounded” by her career all of the time. She said that while it can be motivating, driving down Sunset and seeing her peers everywhere in L.A., there’s a drawback.

“Motivating, but consuming. Very quickly,” Cathcart said, calling it a fine line.

“I know myself very well, and I know that I’m an anxious person,” she said, adding that noise gets “unbearably loud” sometimes.

“I can’t handle it, I just know that it’s not healthy for me.”

She also said that she just wants to be in a city that she knows.

“I need to step away from it.”

She said that separation also helps her lock in when she does go back to L.A. because it feels like “work time.” Cathcart also said that being home in Vancouver helps her feel like a “regular person” and “grounded.”

She also said she has no plans of moving to L.A. since it’s so close to Vancouver and there’s no time change.
