Hollywood North has been busy this spring, and local fans won’t have to wait long to see Vancouver on a screen, as UBC will be heavily featured in the upcoming Amazon Prime series, Off Campus.

Off Campus, based on the global bestselling book series of the same name from Elle Kennedy, is scheduled for release on the streaming platform on Wednesday, May 13.

The trailer for the highly anticipated series recently dropped, and the University of British Columbia is front and centre with an establishing shot of the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre and the Ladner Clock Tower.

UBC is standing in for the fictional Blair University, the setting of Off Campus.

The college soap explores the lives and relationships of elite ice hockey players and university students “as they grapple with love, heartbreak, and self-discovery.”

According to Amazon Prime, the first season of the series is centred around Hannah, a quiet songwriter, and Garrett, Briar University’s hockey all-star.

And if first impressions from the trailer are correct, things are going to get very steamy in the show.

Off Campus was filmed in several locations throughout UBC last summer and into early fall. Locations for locals to look out for include the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre and the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre.

The show, which has already been renewed for a second season, features stars like Ella Bright (The Crown), Belmont Cameli (Until Dawn), Mika Abdalla (Sex Appeal), and Antonio Cipriano (Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin).

And fans are in luck as Amazon Prime has officially renewed the series before the first season has even premiered.

The second season of Off Campus is slated to start filming in Vancouver throughout this summer.

Vancouver will be spending a lot of time on screens soon, as The Last of Us recently transformed New West into an apocalyptic wasteland, and Adam Sandler and Willem Dafoe have been spotted around Vancouver during filming of a remake of a French thriller.

A hit TV show even confused some local residents with a grocery store set that was too good to be true.

If you see any film sets around Vancouver, we’d love to hear about them. Let us know by getting in touch at vancouver@dailyhive.com.
