Cineplex is offering $5 tickets and $5 popcorn for a limited time

Heads up, movie lovers! Cineplex is bringing back discounted movie tickets and popcorn, but only for a limited time.
The largest cinema chain in Canada is offering moviegoers $5 general admission movie tickets and a $5 bag of popcorn (each plus tax) on Saturday, Aug. 30 and Sunday, Aug 31.
“Wrap up your summer and make movie memories with Cineplex’s $5 weekend,” the company said online. “Plus, feel good about going to the movies knowing that a portion of the proceeds will benefit The Canadian Picture Pioneers.”
Tickets for the promotional Cineplex deal become available starting on Wednesday, Aug. 27.

The Canadian Picture Pioneers is the longest-serving not-for-profit charity associated with the country’s movie industry. It has been providing financial assistance and educational opportunities to its members since its founding in 1940.
According to Cineplex, the offer can be applied to movies in 3D, IMAX®, UltraAVX®, D-BOX®, 4DX®, ScreenX®, and VIP. However, it cannot be applied to non-feature films or Cineplex Events performances, or in combination with any other promotion, coupon, or discount.

An additional booking fee of up to $1.50 will also be applied to tickets purchased online.
Of course, no movie night is complete without popcorn, and $5 gets you a small bag. However, Cineplex notes that toppings are an additional cost. The offer is non-exchangeable and non-upgradable, and is not valid for Poptopia-branded popcorn or combos at the concession.
