Vancouver’s patio culture has grown exponentially in the recent years since the municipal government relaxed its rules on patios and, in fact, started encouraging businesses to build patios.
Such spaces enhance city streets by activating them, enhances public life and provides restaurants with more seating capacity during the busy summer months.
And today, the city released a new map that locates over 200 large restaurant patios that will be open for the public to enjoy their summer nights.
“Summer is in full swing and now is the time to get outside and discover a new patio or to visit an old favourite,” said Mayor Gregor Robertson in a statement.
“There’s no shortage of excellent food and music to enjoy here in Vancouver and I’m happy to see that establishments that have strong neighbourhood track records are now able to stay open later.”
