Just a week after we shared that significant changes were coming to Corus radio in Vancouver, we have more news to share, involving a familiar face returning to a “world-famous” station.
Jeremy Baker, who has lots of experience at the “World Famous CFOX” and has been working some fill-in shifts over the past while, announced that he’s taking over the afternoon slot as the new drive-time host.
Baker made the announcement on LinkedIn on Monday.
“I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new (old) position as Afternoon Show Host – CFOX at Corus Entertainment,” he wrote in the post.
Baker will also be heard across the Corus Radio Network in Toronto and Calgary on The Edge, as well as in London on FM96.
Baker takes over the timeslot previously occupied by Tyler and Lynch. We reported that Tyler and Lynch were being taken off the air as part of what Corus called “difficult but necessary changes” last week.
Those changes affected both CFOX and CKNW.
“Corus remains committed to prudently providing entertainment to our listeners, and we are dedicated to upholding our programming standards and telling important local news stories that matter to Canadians,” Corus told Daily Hive.
Baker has been on a journey for a few years in the radio industry, not just in Vancouver but across the country. In 2023, we shared a story about how Baker lost his job at 102.7 The PEAK and embarked on a journey to Halifax.
“I kicked the tires around Vancouver for a broadcasting gig, but there wasn’t anything too exciting or stable at the time for me,” he said then.
Before the trip, Baker says he was “sitting around” in Coquitlam, B.C., while being a stay-at-home dad. Then, he got a random text from a number he didn’t recognize that asked if he’d consider moving to Halifax for work. He initially said no, but the opportunity seemed too good to pass up.
All the journeying has led Baker back to CFOX, where he’ll hopefully enjoy a bit of stability in what can be a mighty turbulent industry.
Baker is officially scheduled to be on the air from Monday through Friday, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., following Carmen Cruz, according to the CFOX website.
