Huge Pride parade will close major Vancouver roads this weekend
The largest Pride parade in Western Canada returns to downtown Vancouver this weekend, and local residents and commuters are being warned of several road closures to make way for the festivities.
Over 100,000 attendees are expected to line the streets for the 48th Vancouver Pride Parade on Sunday, Aug. 2.
The Vancouver Pride Society (VPS) is also hosting a packed lineup of events throughout the weekend, with thrilling performances, block parties, and more to the theme of “Unapologetically Queer.”

Vancouver Pride Parade route
The parade will start at 1 p.m. with over 100 vibrant parade entries, entertaining performers, community floats, and more.
Parade accessibility viewing zones are available for free, on a first-come, first-served basis, at the Roundhouse Community Centre. There will also be a “Pride Pitstop” at BC Place by donation from noon to 4 p.m.

Downtown roads shut down for parade and festival
Here are the road closures scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. by the City of Vancouver for the Vancouver Pride Parade on Sunday:
- Pacific Street, from Quebec Street to Burrard Street
- Hornby Street, Pacific Street to Helmcken Street
- Burrard Street, from Pacific Street to Davie Street
- Burrard Bridge access via Thurlow Street to Pacific Street
Several streets will also be closed for the Davie Village Pride Festival.

Davie Village, the heart of Vancouver’s 2SLGBTQIA+ community, will host the Pride Festival on Sunday, Aug. 2, spanning a three-block stretch of Davie Street between Burrard Street and Jervis Street.
Organizers are promising “expanded programming and renewed partnership” at the Davie Village Pride Festival from 2 to 10 p.m., featuring live music, drag performances, DJs, and roaming entertainers, as well as licensed lounges, extended patios, and local businesses spilling out onto the street.
Events can be found in Davie Village, Nelson Park and Comox Street (between Bute and Thurlow). There will also be new lounge experiences at 1800 Davie Plaza and the English Bay Bathhouse. Programming in Nelson Park will run from 2 to 9 p.m.
