Why BC Place is showing a Pixar film on its gigantic screen next month
A critically acclaimed Pixar movie is getting the giant screen treatment at BC Place next month, and you can enjoy the film while helping children in need.
Kids Up Front Vancouver, in partnership with BC Place and PavCo, will host its More Than a Movie event on Sunday, Aug. 16.
Families and individuals can purchase tickets to see Pixar’s Hoppers on the world’s second-largest four-sided centre-hung HD video board.
Each ticket purchased includes the admission of a youth from an equity-seeking group to attend for free.
More Than a Movie/Kids Up Front
Kids Up Front is a charity that partners with over 100 different child-serving agencies in the Greater Vancouver area to ensure that all children have access to fun experiences.
Donated tickets, classes, and passes to local events go to children of families that face multiple barriers, such as poverty, illness, minority status, newcomers to Canada, and more, and give them a chance to enjoy unique opportunities and events.
“More Than a Movie is about giving children and families the chance to come together, make memories, and enjoy something special as a community,” said Kids Up Front in a release. “A movie at BC Place is an experience unlike any other, from enjoying on-field activities to watching a film together on the big screen.
“We’re excited to create a space where families can laugh, connect, and share a meaningful day together. Every ticket helps us continue bringing more opportunities and moments of joy to children and families throughout our community.”

Admission for More Than a Movie is $15 per ticket, or $50 for a family pass of four tickets. Each ticket, donated or purchased, includes admission to the movie as well as a hot dog, popcorn, and a fizzy drink.
Several on-field events are planned for the day, including kicking soccer balls with the Whitecaps and throwing footballs with the BC Lions and their respective team mascots.
Then sit back and enjoy Hoppers, which won over critics and fans at the box office upon its release earlier this year.
