Vancouver Pride, one of the city’s most popular festivals, is preparing for a busy week of festivities, and we’ve got the details on everything you need to know.

The Vancouver Pride Society (VPS) are hosting a packed lineup of events from Saturday, July 25 to Sunday, Aug. 2, with thrilling performances, block parties, and more to the theme of “Unapologetically Queer.”

Many events are free or low-cost and open to all ages and interests, including the highly anticipated Vancouver Pride Parade.

“Unapologetically Queer is about taking up space fully and authentically,” said Nicole Tran, board of director co-chair of Vancouver Pride Society, in a release.

“Pride exists because queer communities created spaces for each other when those spaces didn’t exist elsewhere. This year’s theme honours that legacy while making room for the many ways people experience identity, belonging, joy, and resistance today.”

Everyone is welcome to check out the community-led programming, cultural events, and citywide activations during the nine-day event.

The largest Pride parade in Western Canada begins at Pacific Boulevard near BC Place, and will travel along Pacific until it ends at Howe Street.

The parade will start at 1 p.m. with over 100 vibrant parade entries, entertaining performers, community floats, and more.

Parade accessibility viewing zones are available for free, on a first-come, first-served basis, at the Roundhouse Community Centre. There will also be a “Pride Pitstop” at BC Place by donation from noon to 4 p.m.

Two other marches are happening in the city during the festival period, including the Trans March on Friday, July 31, and the Vancouver Dyke March on Saturday, Aug. 1.

Davie Village, the heart of Vancouver’s 2SLGBTQIA+ community, will host the Pride Festival on Sunday, Aug. 2, spanning a three-block stretch of Davie Street between Burrard Street and Jervis Street.

Organizers are promising “expanded programming and renewed partnership” at the Davie Village Pride Festival from 2 to 10 p.m., featuring live music, drag performances, DJs, and roaming entertainers, as well as licensed lounges, extended patios, and local businesses spilling out onto the street.

Events can be found in Davie Village, Nelson Park and Comox Street (between Bute and Thurlow). There will also be new lounge experiences at 1800 Davie Plaza and the English Bay Bathhouse. Programming in Nelson Park will run from 2 to 9 p.m.

“This festival is about celebrating the people, businesses, and organizations that make Davie Village such a special place year-round,” said Teri Smith, Executive Director, West End Business Improvement Association.

“After building a strong foundation last year, we’re excited to continue growing the festival in ways that strengthen community connections, support local businesses, and create an unforgettable Pride experience for everyone.”
