Vancouver just won several prestigious global travel awards
Vancouver has just been recognized by one of the travel industry’s most prestigious award programs.
The 33rd World Travel Awards recently revealed that Vancouver is the top North American city for its airport, city break destination, cruise port, and even as a spot to take a honeymoon.
Vancouver’s International Airport (YVR) was titled North America’s leading airport for the second year in a row. This follows its making the top 10 on Condé Nast Traveller‘s Readers’ Choice Awards for best airport in the world, which cited its accessibility, proximity to ski slopes and B.C.’s culinary scene, and even the airport food.

The World Travel Awards also gave Vancouver the title of North America’s leading city break destination for the second consecutive year, and the Port of Vancouver was listed as the continent’s leading cruise port. Given that we just experienced a record-breaking cruise ship season and welcomed its biggest cruise ship ever, perhaps this is no surprise.
Further, newlywed couples might want to consider a trip to Vancouver, as it is now considered to be North America’s leading honeymoon destination. In 2025 and 2024, Vancouver Island earned the title. A couple of years ago, B.C. was listed on a list of the most romantic honeymoon spots in the world.

We also earned some B.C. specific titles, with the Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel listed as B.C.’s leading airport hotel, and the JW Marriott Parq listed as the province’s leading business hotel. The Fairmont has earned this title all the way back to 2020.
Further, three B.C. resorts were named the top resorts across the country.
Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler was named Canada’s leading resort. It’s a mountain retreat in the heart of the resort community and has world-class amenities, great service, and, of course, stunning nature.

Klahoose Wilderness Resort, a small, all-inclusive retreat in Desolaiton Sound, earned the spot as Canada’s leading wilderness resort.
Kingfisher Pacific Resort & Spa, near Courtenay and Comox, earned the title of Canada’s leading boutique resort.
