One of the most iconic hotels in Alberta has once again come out on top, earning the title of Canada’s Leading Hotel for the fourth consecutive year.

The 2026 World Travel Awards were recently announced, and the Fairmont Banff Springs took home the title of Canada’s Leading Hotel, putting the iconic Banff property in the national spotlight once again.

Located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, the hotel is known for its castle-like exterior, mountain views, and location in the beautiful town of Banff. It’s a popular destination for visitors looking to enjoy a getaway in the Canadian Rockies.

The Fairmont Banff Springs is no stranger to the World Travel Awards. The hotel has now earned the title of Canada’s Leading Hotel in 2025, 2024, and 2023.

Other nominees for the prestigious title included another hotel in Alberta, the Fairmont Palliser in Calgary, and another Fairmont property in Vancouver, along with Muir Halifax and the Ritz-Carlton in Montreal.

The Fairmont Banff Springs was nominated in two other categories at the awards, including Alberta’s Leading Hotel Suite and Alberta’s Leading Resort. However, those titles went to the Presidential Suite at JW Marriott Edmonton ICE District and the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, respectively.

As for the Leading Hotel in North America, that title went to The St. Regis in New York.

The Fairmont Banff Springs has earned itself a handful of accolades this year, including being named one of the most romantic hotels in the world.
