19-year-old killed in Vancouver's third homicide of 2019

A 19-year-old man has been killed in an assault that turned deadly in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

Around 9:15 pm Friday night, Vancouver Police responded to an altercation near the intersection of Keefer Street at Jackson Avenue.

The teen victim was allegedly assaulted with a weapon before the suspect fled. The young man was rushed to hospital after several witnesses called 911, but he did not survive.

The deceased has been identified as Vancouver resident Dakota Saje Wildeman-McNeil.

Const. Jason Doucette said the incident is not a random act and it’s not believed the public is at risk.

This is the third homicide in the city in 2019.
