It was raining stuffed animals on Sunday, as the Vancouver Giants hosted their annual Teddy Bear Toss game.
Wearing outrageous Grinch-themed uniforms, the Giants held the annual event at Rogers Arena for the first time this year.
The Teddy Bear Toss game is a junior hockey holiday tradition, where fans are asked to bring a stuffed animal for charity to throw onto the ice after the home team’s first goal of the game.

The announced crowd of 8,938 fans didn’t have to wait long for the magical moment, when just over four minutes into the first period Giants winger Michal Kvasnica broke up the left hand side and ripped the puck past Tri-City Americans goalie Beck Warm to send the barrage of stuffed animals flying towards the ice.
Kvasnica’s goal not only marked his first tally as a Giant, but also made him the team’s first import player to bring the bears down in the history of the event. And if the spectacle of watching thousands of stuffed animals fly wasn’t fun enough, the Giants’ 4-1 victory over Tri-City certainly sent fans home with a smile on their face.
The massive haul of plushies will be donated to Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau, which helps distribute toys and other charitable items to lower income families throughout the Greater Vancouver area.
Here are some great photos and videos from the moment the bears hit:
