There’s a huge shift in the Vancouver weather forecast, and sunny blue skies are being replaced by gray and potentially wet days, with multiple chances of thunderstorms in the region.
September is less than a week away, but things are going to feel a little bit like autumn to end August.
Temperatures have dropped, and over the next seven days, the sun will largely disappear.
Over the next few days, there are two days with risks of thunderstorms, including today and tomorrow afternoon.
Environment and Climate Change Canada’s (ECCC) Vancouver forecast says there’s a risk of a thunderstorm on Thursday and on Friday afternoon.
Daily highs have dropped to a max of 20°C, down from inland humidex values of over 30°C days before the ECCC forecast.
Overnight lows will drop to an average of around 13°C.

On Thursday evening, there’s a 30 per cent chance of showers, and on Friday that increases to 40 per cent. The chance of showers increases to 60 per cent on Saturday, paving the way for potentially a wet weekend.
It remains to be seen if the potential for thunderstorms will match up with the dazzling display we saw last weekend.

OpenSnow, a U.S. based company that specializes in weather forecasts, snow reports, high-resolution weather maps, and ski conditions, recently published an early outlook for the season.
It looked at past seasons with super El Niños that had a close distribution of sea surface temperatures, other oceanic and atmospheric signals, and seasonal model data.
OpenSnow said that B.C. is favoured to have below-average snowfall across much of the province because of warm temperatures and a “more southerly storm track.”
