After a dazzling and awe-inspiring weekend thanks to a thunderstorm that blew Metro Vancouver residents away, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) says we could see another one tonight.
As of 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 25, conditions are quite hazy around Metro Vancouver, and IQAir suggests a drop in air quality.
IQAir’s forecast suggests air quality conditions will improve over the course of the day before briefly getting slightly worse at around 9 p.m.

For parts of the Fraser Valley, the Metro Vancouver Regional District issued an air quality warning yesterday, including Chilliwack and Hope.
Turning to the ECCC forecast, Tuesday calls for a high of 24°C, but a much higher 29°C inland. Humidex values will make it feel like 29°C near the water, and 34°C inland.
Hopefully conditions change for Aug. 27, which is the date when Vancouver residents may be able to catch a partial lunar eclipse.

ECCC says that it’ll be clear early this evening before clouds start to roll in with a 30 per cent chance of showers this evening and after midnight. ECCC adds that there’s a risk of a thunderstorm in Vancouver this evening.
It’ll also be a bit blustery if the forecast pans out, with ECCC calling for gusts of close to 50 km/h near the Strait of Georgia late this evening.
This weekend’s thunderstorm was thanks to an upper-level trough that crossed through southern B.C., bringing unstable atmospheric conditions. ECCC says that it triggered “numerous thunderstorms” across the province, leading to heavy downpours in some areas.

For the remainder of the week, ECCC expects a bit more precipitation and slightly cooler temperatures than we’ve experienced over the past several weeks.
Some other parts of B.C. are also under air quality warnings, including Lytton and Lillooet in the Fraser Canyon Area, the Skagit Valley, Chilcotin, Nicola, Similkameen, South Okanagan and South Thompson.
