Heart Melt Motel Pop-Up

Heartfelt Motel pop-up Instagram exhibit

What: “Heartmelt Motel” is a pop-up exhibit taking over a Surrey mall as part of a Canadian tour that will see the photo op wonderland installed temporarily in malls in four provinces. As for the theme, think 1970s California summer and retro-motel. There are five unique “motel rooms” in the exhibit, each containing an immersive and interactive space for you to explore. No creative pop-up is complete without a gummy ball pool for visitors to jump into.

Wednesday Wanderings: Bog Wonders

What: ​Learn more about the unique plant species that thrive in the acid-rich and nutrient-poor bog habitat that would kill most other plants. Discover secrets of this ecologically sensitive wetland. Ages 19+. Registration is required.

Spoken Nerd

What: Time to proudly proclaim your love for whatever turns on your nerdy nature. Costumes are welcomed in the audience or for performers for this late night battle of the nerds featuring supernerd poets Julia Gaskill and Stephen Meads.

Caring for Your Whole Self by YYOGA

What: BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre Foundation and YYOGA are partnering to host an evening of connection and growth. The evening will include a flow yoga class led by Christie Baumgartner and accompanied by Omar Khan on his guitar. After this grounding moment on the mat, the evening moves onto an engaging panellist discussion about how to Care for Your Whole Self paired with healthy food, a kombucha bar, and delicious drinks from Lonetree Cider & PYUR Vodka Soda.

Designing Gardens for the Senses

What: Go beyond designing a garden that looks good, and create a garden that feels and smells good. Join instructor Janis Matson in this experiential and interactive class, equipping participants with the tools and understanding to create a sensory haven on your property. Explore how to design gardens that are welcoming and multi-sensory; incorporating texture, colour, scent, sound, touch, and movement into the garden.

Streetcar #153 and the new Museum of North Vancouver

What: North Vancouver’s Streetcar #153 is being restored by the West Coast Railway Association in preparation for display in the Museum of North Vancouver. Don Evans, Chair of WCRA, will introduce the history of North Vancouver’s ‘perfect’ streetcar system and present Streetcar #153’s road to restoration. Museum Director Nancy Kirkpatrick will speak about the innovative new museum and its contemporary exhibits and engaging programs. As well, curator Karen Dearlove will present intriguing streetcar related items from our collection and as well as some unique artifacts that will be featured in the new Museum.
