Twenty One Pilots

What: The American musical duo of Tyler Jospeh and drummer Josh Dun are embarking on a massive, 93-city world tour that will include a stop at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena on May 12. The Bandito Tour will promote the band’s fifth studio album, Trench. Twenty One Pilots will also be playing older tunes, especially off their 2015 Blurryface album that skyrocketed the duo to stardom.

Mom = Wow – ‘The Mother of all Mother’s Day Shows’

What: This special event is sure to make mom literally laugh out loud, while VTS’s players explore every aspect of motherhood through short scenes. Mom will laugh ‘til her sides hurt with vignettes such as ‘Movie Moms,’ ‘Momvolution – from new Mom to Grand-mom,’  ‘Mom Myths,’ or ‘Mommy Dearest’ to name a few of the endless possibilities that could arise.

Heartfelt Motel Pop-Up

What: “Heartmelt Motel” is a pop-up exhibit taking over a Surrey mall as part of a Canadian tour that will see the photo op wonderland installed temporarily in malls in four provinces. As for the theme, think 1970s California summer and retro-motel. There are five unique “motel rooms” in the exhibit, each containing an immersive and interactive space for you to explore. No creative pop-up is complete without a gummy ball pool for visitors to jump into.

BlueShore Financial Mother’s Day Run

What: The BlueShore Financial Mother’s Day Run, presented by The Westin Bayshore consists of a 3k, 5k and 10k Run and Walk in Stanley Park and Coal Harbour. All participants will receive a souvenir technical running shirt and a gift bag filled with goodies. Moms will also be greeted at the finish line with a commemorative scarf. The event includes a Finish Line Festival, kid’s activities, champagne giveaways and options for a decadent Mother’s Day Brunch at The Westin Bayshore. Everyone is welcome to run.

An Evening with Mike Bonanno (The Yes Men)

Mike Bonnano (The Yes Men)

What: Mike Bonanno from the dynamic prankster duos the Yes Men, will be at the Rio to reveal his secrets… of corporate drag. The show will feature a participatory corporate fashion show, motivational speaking, group power posing, and a slew of never before seen fake corporate videos made for past Yes Men projects – including an (abysmal) Exxon karaoke video that everyone can sing along to.

Fit First Footwear x lululemon: 5k Burna-Beer Run to Dageraad Brewing

What: Join Fit First Footwear and lululemon on Sunday, May 12 for a 5 km run through Burnaby, culminating with a social at Dageraad Brewery. 100% of proceeds from the $10 ticket goes toward FitFirst Footwear’s Downtown Eastside fundraiser.

Festival du Ballet

What: See the talents and abilities of up-and-coming ballet dancers from across the Lower Mainland during the Festival du Ballet. Ranging in age from 3 to 21, dancers compete in the categories of classical, pointe, demi-character, contemporary ballet, interpretive, modern, repertoire, and adult. The adjudicators are accomplished ballet dancers, teachers, and choreographers. The Rose Gala Finalé features the highest scoring finalists in each category.

Mother’s Day at Burnaby Village Museum

What: Special activities and crafts for the whole family are planned to celebrate Mom at Burnaby Village Museum. Don’t forget to go for a ride on the carousel.

Vancouver TSS Rovers Season Openers

What: The Vancouver TSS Rovers men will be playing in USL League Two NW division and the Vancouver TSS Rovers women are playing in the NW Conference of the Women’s Premier Soccer League. Rosters are 100 per cent made up of Canadian under-23 players working toward the national team, the Canadian Premier League, and MLS.
