Canada Men’s National Rugby Team vs USA

What: On Saturday, September 7, Canada’s Men’s Rugby Team is set to host their historic rivals, USA Rugby, at BC Place in what’s expected to be an unforgettable match. This is the last chance to catch the team before they compete in the Rugby World Cup, so you know they’ll be playing at the top of their game. Hot on the heels of the HSBC Canada Sevens in March, BC Place is an epic spot for high-energy rugby matches. Expect the crowd to be loud and the atmosphere to be electric.

Assembly

What: Assembly is an unconventional convention in Vancouver to help new and aspiring small business owners find the help they need. The convention will feature a range of vendors including designers, marketing experts, accountants, lawyers, photographers and more all at your disposal to consult with. Drop in for the 10 am morning mingle, 3 pm happy hour (both sponsored by some local favourites), or anytime during the day.

Recovery Day BC with Trooper and SonReal

What: Canada’s Largest Addiction and Mental Health Recovery Street Festival. Recovery Day is part music festival, part information fair, part community engagement event to reduce the stigma of addiction and recovery. Featuring three music stages, kids zone, overdose memorial centre, information booths, vendors, food trucks, health and wellness speakers

Savour Summer Festival

What: Savour Summer is coming to Town Centre one last time before the summer wraps up. The Katherine’s and Kutapira will be helping savour the last moments of summer. The ever-popular Yeeri the Magician returns to bring all the laughs and awe to audiences young and old. And learn some magic of your own with Yeeri’s magic workshop after his performance. River District retailers will also provide giveaways and prizes.

Bike the Night 2019

HUB Cycling

What: Bike the Night, British Columbia’s largest on-street nighttime bike ride, with Vancouver’s most iconic roads opened exclusively for an after-hours bike ride, hosted by HUB Cycling and presented by MEC.

Participants are invited to deck our their bike in bright lights, dress up in their flashiest apparel, and join thousands of riders of all ages in a 10 km joy ride. The family-friendly event kicks off at 6 pm at Sunset Beach with a pre-ride festival, complete with music, food trucks, free bike-tune-ups, games, and tons of giveaways and prizes. The ride then takes cyclists though a colourful, vibrant ride through car-free Vancouver streets, including the Burrard Street Bridge.

What: The Magical Brunch Vancouver is a huge Disney-inspired adult boozy brunch. Attendees of this celebration can expect hours of themed entertainment and high tea. There is also a Saturday Soiree, which takes place after the brunches

Kerrisdale Mutt Show at Kerrisdale Days

What: The Kerrisdale Mutt Show features mixed breeds of all shapes, sizes and ages competing in unconventional categories that highlight the uniqueness that makes them awesome. Register your best friend in various vategories including waggiest tail, best winger, and looks most like owner. The mutt show is part of Kerrisdale Days, two days of festivities that feature live bands, face painters, and sidewalk sales.

BC Derby & Derby Oaks 2019

What: On September 7, the Hastings Racecourse is hosting the 74th annual BC Derby and 56th annual BC Oaks. BC Horse Racing Hall of Fame owner Peter Redekop has increased the winner’s purse to $250,000, making it the richest stakes race on the Hastings 2019 calendar. Together with the $100,000 BC Oaks, $50,000 SW Randall Plate, and $50,000 Delta Colleen, there’s a total purse amount of $450,000 up for grabs.

Attendees can wager as little as $2 on any race, making it easy for newbies to have fun and learn about horse racing. Admission to the event is completely free. There will also be food trucks, live music, and outdoor beer tents during the day.
