Women’s Ski Day at Whistler/ Mira Landry

What: Whistler Olympic Park is inviting all women to the third annual “Women’s Ski Day,” which it bills as a full day of cross country ski fun, learning and connecting with like-minded women. Taking place on January 26, the event will offer female visitors a 20% discount on day tickets on-site for cross-country skiing and on ski rentals. There will also be free women-specific information clinics, a guided afternoon social ski and demos, as well as a 20% discount on Kari Traa apparel in the park’s retail shop.

15th Anniversary: PuSh International Performing Arts Festival 2019

What: The PuSh International Performing Arts Festival is Vancouver’s signature mid-winter cultural event. The PuSh Festival presents audiences with groundbreaking, contemporary works of theatre, dance, music, and multimedia, by acclaimed local, national, and international artists. This year’s PuSh Festival will showcase 26 works from 24 companies from 13 countries – including six world premieres.

I Heart Tulips at Metropolis at Metrotown

What: Metrotown’s Grand Court will see 10,000 live, red and white tulips, arranged in the shape of a heart. The installation will be viewable from all three levels of the mall from 10 am to 1 pm. Following that, at 1:30 pm, guests will be able to take their pick of tulips to bring home, for a minimum donation of $5 for five tulips. The event will end once all 10,000 tulips have been picked.

Proceeds from the installation will go to Variety – the Children’s Charity, an organization that has been providing direct help to BC children with special needs for more than 50 years. I Heart Tulips will also include a tulip selfie stand, photo frames, and the opportunity to take pictures with Tilly, the tulip mascot. Visitors will be able to enter a draw to win tickets to the 2019 Tulips of the Valley Festival, which kicks off this April.

What: Now in its 10th year, Sophia Wealth Academy offers a full day of financial education and workshops and welcomes a dynamic community of 350 learners and 17 powerful speakers. The event covers all the fundamentals of finance that a woman needs to know. All ticket proceeds of the event are donated to Dress For Success, a global nonprofit organization that helps women gain financial independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools necessary to help them thrive.

VSO 100th Anniversary Day of Music

What: The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra will celebrate its 100th Anniversary with 12 hours of free music for all. Performances range from large ensembles and renowned soloists to intimate chamber music, world music, and Vancouver’s best and brightest emerging talent. There will also be trial lessons, workshops, instrument petting zoos, food trucks, yoga to classical music, activities for kids and families, and opportunities to interact with incredible musicians. This once in a lifetime event will culminate in a concert with the VSO and the Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra in a joint performance of Mussorgksy’s Pictures at an Exhibition followed by Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite that celebrates past, present and future generations of music-makers on the very same date, January 26, that it all started, 100 years ago.
